My latest rabbit hole is fountain pens, and to pair with that is fountain pen ink. Oh my, there are just so many lovely ink shades it’s unreal.

I find myself keeping track of ink samples I have in my Hippo Noto notebook.
For a long time, I cleaned, inked, tested and then cleaned my fountain pens when I received ink samples. I finally got hip to getting a glass dip pen to test out samples. So. Much. Easier. Seriously, I dip my pen, write with it, dip it in water to rinse it and wipe it clean. Done.
I find myself gravitating towards blues, pinks, and purples when it comes to ink colors. But I definitely have a few favorites that are not in those colors.
Here’s a list of my fave ink samples I have (all from Goulet Pens)

On top of a ton of samples, I actually do own a few bottles of fountain pen ink. I’m picky though, so I don’t own very many bottles.

The fun part of trying new inks is seeing what they do on different papers. Some inks shimmer, some have a sheen, and some are just a beautiful color. I love trying them all and the best part about samples is that they’re inexpensive, and if you don’t like one you can move on to the next.
